The Pepsi system has joined with other beverage industry leaders in committing to voluntarily shift the mix of beverages available in schools to lower the calorie content and provide more nutritious beverage options. Therefore, we are committed to adhere to the following guidelines:
• Remove full-calorie soft drinks, full-calorie juice drinks and full-calorie teas from all k-12 schools (diets can be offered but only in high schools)
• Offer only water and 100% juices in elementary and middle schools
• Offer sports drinks only in high schools and only in 12 oz. sizes
• Downsize 100% juices to no more than 12 oz. in high schools and 10 oz. in middle schools.
These guidelines will be followed in all schools in our distribution area whether public, private or parochial. All beverages sold in schools will follow these guidelines except:
• Beverages offered in employee areas that are not accessible to students
• Beverages sold at school events where parents and other adults are a significant part of an audience (i.e., sporting events)
• Beverage sold by adults or off school grounds as fundraisers
